Columbus Oktoberfest Went Social

A week and a half ago I was approached by Geoff Schmidt, owner of Schmidt's Sausage Haus and sponsor of the Columbus Oktoberfest. At that time, the 45th Annual Columbus Oktoberfest was only a week away and they needed help creating more awareness for the festival.

Even though this event has been a staple in the Columbus community for years, a change in 2009 threatened the continuation of the event. That is until the Schmidt & Cox families stepped in to help. With little turnaround time the event went on last year and will continue for year's to come.

But with the switch in hosts came some changes for the event and getting that information to the public was crucial. After meeting with Geoff I quickly built a Facebook page for the event and in just a few days the number of likes grew giving these new "likers" up-to-date information about the festival.

Because the page is only a little over a week old it still has a lot of growing to do. But now, Columbus Oktoberfest has a page to update it's "likers" giving them a pre, during and post event online experience.

Not yet a "liker" of the Columbus Oktoberfest Facebook page? Click here and become one to see what happened at this year's event and to be one of the first to find out information about next year's event.
