Metro Parks invites riders and walkers to be the first over the Route 33 bridge

Metro Parks cordially invites you and your friends and family to the “First Over the Bridge” bike, jog or walk event that begins at 6 am, Saturday October 1, 2011 at the Confluence Area at Three Creeks Metro Park, 3860 Bixby Road, Groveport.

The 878-foot span bridge over Route 33 closes the gap in the Blacklick Creek Green Trail allowing bicyclists and walkers to ride the 9 miles from Three Creeks Metro Park to Pickerington Ponds Metro Park. The 8-panel bridge is 12 feet wide and is 20 feet above SR 33.

Participants will walk or ride the three miles to the bridge beginning at 6:30 am and are welcome to continue on an additional 6 miles to Pickerington Ponds Metro Park. The Blacklick Creek Greenway Trail is ADA accessible.

Participants can purchase a commemorative T-shirt for $10 and that will also get them a year’s membership in the Stewards of Metro Parks, a nonprofit group that works to support the park system.

RSVP on their Facebook page and invite your family and friends to come along as well. Columbus Metro Parks is celebrating and they want you to join them.
