I felt like a queen in my royal purple bedroom!
Saturday morning started with a private tour of the Sycamore Bridge Farm. This is where the Inn at Versailles restaurant, Michael Anthony's, grows their produce, herbs and even flowers for the tables. Visiting this farm on such a warm, sunny day made us all wonder if a summer on a farm is as wonderful as we imagine.
The morning continued with a tour of the town hosted by Inn of Versailles General Manager, Roy Brown. The town of Versailles is filled with bronze statues throughout the town showcasing the importance of art. Here I am in a photo taken before dinner with a life-sized statue of Claude Monet.
After our morning tour we were famished so we decided to venture to the next town of Greenville, Ohio for a little lunch and shopping. We enjoyed an array of salads and a glass of Merlot at Montage Cafe. A great find in a quaint town. Here's a photo I snapped of Tiffany, Rose and Betty enjoying lunch in the loft.
After lunch we purchased a bottle of wine to enjoy later that evening. I bought a delicious bottle of Sycamore Lane Merlot. With flavors of cherries and spice and soft tannins for a smooth finish this was a winner, especially for only $10.00!
Arriving back to the Inn at Versailles we all relaxed, freshened up in our luxurious bathrooms and met back at the living area the Inn so graciously gave us for the weekend. Here is where we enjoyed a pre-dinner glass of wine before heading downstairs to Michael Anthony's for what was an incredibly culinary experience!
Dinner at Michael Anthony's was an marvelous treat from the appetizers (Bruschetta Di Michael Anthony, Calamari, Antipasti Platter, and Bruschetta made with their vine ripe tomatoes), to the wine (Washington state, 40 Nights & Chateau Ste. Michelle), to my amazing dinner (Chicken Al Limone), and finishing with dessert (tasting a bit of everyone's - Chocolate Decadence, Homemade Salty Carmel Gelato and the Strawberry, Blueberry, and Sycamore Bridge Farms Rhubarb Tart). Full, but completely satisfied this is a restaurant we would highly recommend and would definitely invest the time to make a day of it to visit once again. Don't believe me, check out the photo of my dinner. This is definitely one I will be craving again!
I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend road trip and would highly recommend the Inn at Versailles and dinner at Michael Anthony's if you are looking for a unique Ohio get-a-way.
