Can Twitter Create Life-Long Friends? I Say Yes!

I was an early adaptor to social media and other than a blog, Twitter was the very first channel I used to establish connections. That was back in early 2008. Back then I mostly used social media to build my business and network, but I quickly discovered that it was also a great way to connect with people who shared similar interests and goals.

In 2009, I was fortunate enough to meet many fine folks through Twitter and then we joined a group called Tastecasting. We'd meet and tweet about restaurants and foods in the Columbus area. It was when this group got together that I met friends that have become some of my nearest and dearest!

Kelly and Tiffany were two of those ladies. Since then we have not only dined, chatted, and laughed together but we've built a solid friendship. We have traveled together, have gone through life changes together, supported one another, and despite major moves (Tiffany to Texas), we have continued to stay in touch and make a point to see each other whenever we can. I believe social media continues to play a big part in keeping our friendship going strong as we share photos, send messages and share interests with one another to this day. I can't wait to see what the future brings to our friendship. I already know it has a couple trips planned in it!

So during this week of thanks I think it only appropriate to say, "thank you Twitter for introducing me to some of the most important people in my life."
