The Naked Chef Starts A Food Revolution

I love to watch the Food Network Channel. Maybe it's because I wish I could cook like those chefs. Or maybe it's really because I wish I could find a way to beam up the delicious concoctions through my TV set and into my house so I can eat what they prepared!

Jamie Oliver is the Naked Chef and after three years of this successful series Jamie is looking to do more. So he started a food revolution! He's mad because so many kids are overweight and even obese because of the foods they are eating. Jamie's Food Revolution is all about replacing junk, snacks and processed food with freshly cooked nutritious meals – in schools and at home.

Jaime won the Ted Prize, an award granting recipients $100,000 and something much bigger - an opportunity to realize a wish to change the world. Jaime will be putting that money to make sure every kid gets good, fresh food at school. See Jaime's Ted speech here. It is very powerful and the statistics are staggering!

You can join Jaime's Food Revolution by signing a petition that he plans to take to the White House for support.

I applaud Jaime for what he is doing and am glad someone is leading the stand to help our kids. Because of my work with 10TV Commit To Be Fit I am more aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle for adults and kids. If you know a child who you would like to learn more about a healthy lifestyle in Columbus they can join the 10TV Commit To Be Fit Kids Club for some great tips and information.

Nickelodeon Turns 30 and Gets a Facelift

MTV-owned children's cable network Nickelodeon turns 30 years young. With the milestone comes a new brand image. The logo is set in rounded lowercase type, the focal point being a stylized dot on the lowercase ‘i’—possibly resembling the outline of a child.

Sister channel Teen Nick gets a modern, updated look as well.

Being a mom of two Nick children I asked for their opinion of the new logo. Their answers might surprise Nickelodeon.

Eleven-year-old son: "I think the old logo is more exciting for kids. I like the splatter because it looks alive. The new logo is too boring and lacks detail. Being lower case it doesn't stand out on the poster examples. I do like the Teen Nick look a lot though."

Fourteen-year-old daughter: "The old logo is more kid friendly and represented who Nick is much better. The new logo is too plain, boring and not as much fun. Does that mean they are doing away with sliming? The Teen Nick logo is better than the new Nickelodeon. At least Teen Nick shows personality."

This made me wonder if Nickelodeon put the new look in front of a demographic focus group. Maybe, but my kids definitely had a strong negative reaction to the new brand image.

For All The Bachelorette Fans Out There #Bachelorette

My blog has been pretty serious lately so I thought it was time to lighten things up a bit. I haven't done a "Can You See the Resemblance?" in such a long time, so why not now.  This one however is kind of like Conan O'Brien's "If They Mated", a segment he did when hosting the Late Night Show.

I have to admit I do watch the Bachelorette even though it has a tendency to be a little cheesy, sometime fake and over dramatic. Sometimes I revel in mindless TV, and with a glass of wine it proves to be a good stress reliever. So my favorite bachelor is Ed. I know many of you on Twitter chat call him Big Head Ed, but I still like him.  All these weeks he has looked so familiar to me and after Monday night it finally dawned on me.

A little Jeffrey Dean Morgon from Grey's Anatomy and a little Barry Williams, aka Greg Brady from The Brady Bunch.

Right? Can you see it too or was it the glass of red wine that clouded my judgment?
